Fans of the Silent Hill video game franchise and films are in for a fright-filled treat when they enter Welcome to Silent Hill at Halloween Horror Nights 22. The wait times in the queue will vary as the night goes on, but you can always duck into the line late -- they’ll let you in a particular house as long as you’re in line for it before closing -- and visit the other houses and attractions at HHN to maximize your time. During our wait time in the queue we were entertained by trailers for a horror film and the latest video game edition to the Silent Hill cannon, Silent Hill: Book of Memories, on a projection display in the auditorium. And if you’ve had your fill of the video previews, you can watch the brightly lit Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit roar overhead. There are Jell-O shots to buy from bloodied nurses or a beer at stands along the queue as you wait to enter the soundstage. Before too long it was our turn to visit the ghastly alternate dimension that is one of the larger houses at HHN 22.

The moment you walk through the entrance you feel as though you’re in another world. The iconic sign welcoming you to Silent Hill with a not-so-friendly creature breathing smoke your way as you head deeper into the house. Ash falls from the sky as your walking on the road where Rose (from the film) loses control of her vehicle. Officer Bennett comes to your rescue at the beginning of your journey, but it’s up to you and you alone to survive the rest of the way. Barbed wire and chains hang from the ceiling as the memorable music and some appearances from Robbie the Rabbit complete an atmosphere of disturbed, impending doom. You’ll make your way past some possessed lockers in the elementary school from the film, where “Colin the Janitor” is ready to greet you in his contorted form, along with a couple of Bogeymen of the Brethren with their cinderblock hammers.

From there you’ll find some of the franchise’s most iconic characters coming to find you. Faceless nurses hide in plain sight as you catch a glimpse of Alessa Gillespie. The next thing you know you’re staring Pyramid Head down as you make your escape through old carousel horses and other amusement park goodies. Through encounters with characters from the long-running game franchise and films, this house doles out the perfect amount of screams befitting the Silent Hill name.
