2020 is off to an exciting start at Aquatica Orlando. SeaWorld Orlando’s water park has announced a brand-new ride for the new year - Riptide Race and its Florida’s first-ever dueling water slide.
The ride will begin atop a 68-foot tower, where riders will grab a raft and take their mark in side-by-side racing lanes. Each raft holds a team of two, so every rider will have a partner to enjoy the winning slide with as they plunge to the bottom. The exciting part is that each Riptide Race raft features low walls so riders can see exactly where their competition is. As riders fly down the slide, they will navigate tight loops and accelerations through indoor and outdoor sections. In the end, riders will loop through 650 feet of slide!
“Riptide Race will offer a ride experience you won’t be able to get anywhere else in Florida. Aquatica will be the first waterpark in the state to have a thrilling, and more importantly, dueling water slide,” said David Heaton, Aquatica Orlando vice president in a statement. “Riptide Race is the perfect addition to our attraction portfolio, complementing what is already one of the most family friendly waterslide lineups in Orlando.”
Riptide Race will be located on the north end of the water park, next to Banana Beach Cook Out. It will have a 42-inch height requirement, allowing families with children to enjoy the thrill.
