Ice Breaker Roller Coaster at SeaWorld Orlando is an exciting ride perfect for families seeking your kids’ first coaster experience. The park has been adding quite a bit of thrill rides to its lineup of late. We recently announced the park’s 7th coaster would be surfacing in 2023. Prior to that, in the spring of this year, the thrill ride IceBreaker hit the park and has quickly become one of the most popular rides for both the young and young at heart.
Named after the Arctic summits, Ice Breaker features such scream-inducing thrills as four airtime filled launches (both backwards and forwards), a reverse launch into the steepest beyond vertical drop in Florida — a 93 feet tall spike with a 100-degree angle, a near-vertical tophat maneuver into a series of exciting twists, turns and airtime hills and more. It is also SeaWorld Orlando’s first launch coaster.
Despite being chalk full of twists, turns, and launches, Ice Breaker is also quite family friendly. The newest ride has a height requirement of just 54-inches. Plus, at top speeds of 52 miles per hour, Ice Breaker is fast enough to get your heart pounding but not too fast that the smallest members of your group won’t join.
“It’s a thrilling ride and it packs a punch that will exceed your expectations,” Vice President of Operations at SeaWorld Orlando, Rob McNicholas said in an event when the ride opened. “This could be a first coaster for a young child. It’s a family coaster. It’s smooth, repeatable and it’s a whole lot of fun!”
The brand-new coaster is located in the middle of SeaWorld Orlando’s revamped Wild Arctic area, which also highlights its conservation partner, Alaska Sea Life Center dedicated research, rescue, rehabilitation and education facility.
