Witches, Wizards and Muggles alike are hereby invited to Universal Orlando’s Dressed to the Nine and Three Quarters annual celebration of Harry Potter. Come dressed in your most dashing Harry Potter-inspired attire. This is an unofficial event hosted by the Central Florida Slug Club at Universal Studios Orlando. Tickets to both parks, Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure, are recommended, but not required. The majority of activities will take place in Diagon Alley, located in Universal Studios. If you are familiar with Walt Disney World’s Dapper Day, this is Universal’s rendition.

When to Go
The festivities will take place on Sunday, November 11th from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. There is no need to place a reservation, simply show up in your most creative Harry Potter bound. The first meet-up will occur in front of the Elf Placement Agency in Diagon Alley.

How to Dress
Popular costumes are modeled after Harry Potter characters, Hogwarts Houses and other magical objects and motifs associated with the Wizarding World. Vintage fashion from the 1950s is the most popular choice, but modern dapper styles are appropriate as well.

Black Milk, Unique Vintage, and Hot Topic are three great retailers for Harry Potter attire. Black Milk carries dresses inspired by Hogwarts houses, as well as one featuring a Marauder’s Map print. The dresses are a bit pricey, but the quality is superb. Hot Topic is another popular choice for clothing, including their Professor McGonagal skirts and Wizarding-themed accessories. Unique Vintage currently retails a Magic Wand 1950s dress in multiple colors, which would be a fun option.

Wear your favorite maxi or cocktail dress in the color of your Hogwarts house for a quick and simple alternative. Pair what you already own with a wand and a strand of pearls to achieve that dapper appearance. Black lace dresses are another easy option for a Dementor or Bellatrix Lestrange bound. Wands can be purchased at Olivander’s market stall in Diagon Alley for witches and wizards without.

What to Do
The celebration will begin at 11 am at Diagon Alley in front of the Elf Placement Agency. Next, the group will watch the stage show at 11:30 a.m. Once the show is over, there will be a group photo taken at 11:45 a.m. There will be no other formal meetups, but you may choose to take the Hogwarts Express across to Hogsmeade at 2:30 p.m. with the group if you purchased a Two-Park ticket.

After the 11:45 group photo, we would suggest purchasing a Butterbeer and pumpkin pasty from the Diagon Alley street vendor, or enjoying lunch at the Leaky Cauldron. There are plenty of shops to meander through, such as Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes, Madam Malkin’s Robes for All Occasions and the Magical Menagerie. If you’re feeling brave, you may want to venture down Knockturn Alley. Here, you’ll get a glimpse into the Dark Arts at Borgin and Burkes. Lastly, we recommend ridding Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts ride. This is a highly immersive, 3-D rollercoaster with a single 50-foot drop.

Step through Universal Orlando’s London into the Wizarding World’s Diagon Alley with the Central Florida Slug Club for a day of dapper festivities. This is one Harry Potter celebration Orlando locals and visitors alike won’t want to miss.
