With all the fuss over Marvel of late, it’s hard to believe that Disney doesn’t already have a Marvel store at one of their parks. Well they are finally about to when the new Marvel-themed store “Super Hero Headquarters” comes to Disney Springs this May.
Just in time for the release of the blockbuster “Avengers: Age of Ultron” opening in theaters on May 1, and expected to have one of the biggest opening weekends ever, the new “Super Hero Headquarters” will take over the space where United World Soccer store used to be. The soccer shirt shop, which opened in time for the World Cup in Brazil in May 2014, was always intended to operate for a limited period.
According to Disney, the store will “feature popular superhero-themed merchandise.” That is all the information Disney has released about the store thus far. We hope to have more information about it as we head into May.
Marvel merchandise can currently be found at D-Street on the West Side. No word yet on whether this merchandise will be moved to the new store or if it will remain where it is. In any case, if you’re looking for Marvel characters, attire, mugs, etc. before May, you at least have one location to snag some merchandise.
While you wait for more news on the Marvel store make sure you check out what else is going on at the revamped Downtown Disney. The Boathouse restaurant opened this past week and Disney announced Dockside Margaritas, a water-front bar, would be opening this Thursday, April 23.
In addition to the restaurants, Disney Springs will also welcome Vivoli Gelateria, a specialty gelato store; Joffrey’s Tea, serving hot, cold, and packaged teas, and accessories and Erwin Pearl, the latest fashion jewelry. All stores will be located in The Landing area of Disney Springs, in the recently opened retail area that is also home to Chapel Hat, APEX Sunglass and Art of Shaving.
