A new interactive queue is set to debut at Peter Pan’s Flight.

Peter Pan’s Flight at Disney’s Magic Kingdom is the latest Walt Disney World attraction to see changes to its queue. Much like the queue updates to the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and Haunted Mansion, this new area will have you glad you waited in line!

Peter Pan’s Flight took flight at Disney’s Magic Kingdom in 1971. Since then wait times for the popular ride have averaged as high as 50 to 60 minutes no matter what time or day you attend the park. To help keep guests occupied during those wait time Disney, somewhat secretly, created a brand new queue that features several different scenes of the London house where the Darlings’ live as well as a few interactive elements to ensure optimum entertainment.

Taking the place of the former bathroom in Fantasyland, the new Peter Pan’s Flight queue features the Darlings’ nursery with beds of John, Wendy and Michael as well as framed scenes from the “Peter Pan” story upon your entrance.

While you’re in the nursery be on the lookout for Tinker Bell. She appears in the walls and can even be seen flying around the room. There is much to look at during your time inside the house but one of the coolest parts is a calendar that hangs on one of the walls in the bedroom. It is open to the date of December 27, 1904. This is the year that James Barrie wrote the novel Peter Pan and the date December 27 is when the play opened at Duke of York’s Theater in London.

When the queue opened in November there were no interactive features but today guests are able to get their hands on some “Peter Pan” fun while they wait. The room consists of an interactive screen that shows the shadows of guests reacting to silhouetted objects. You can also play with leaves and ring dangling bells.

While actually being inside the Darlings’ house and seeing where John, Wendy and Michael sleep each night is pretty cool, some may argue the best part about the new Peter Pan’s Flight queue is that it is indoors and air-conditioned. This makes for a very comfortable wait, especially during Florida’s hot summers. In order to experience the air-conditioned room you will have to forgo the FastPass option and choose the standby queue option instead.
