The Orlando Magic is making waves in the basketball world thanks to the debut of Paolo Banchero. Magic’s #1 overall pick proved why he was the top selection during a recent game against the Detroit Pistons, where he not only impressed but made history.

The former Blue Devil scored 27 points, nine rebounds and five assists becoming the first player to record a 25-5-5 stat line in a debut since Lebron James in 2003. And that’s just the start of it.

In just 22 minutes of the game, Banchero scored his 14th point, setting an Orlando Magic record for most points in a debut. The previous record was set by his teammate Mo Bamba.

By the end of the game he had scored an additional 13 points (64 percent true shooting), the most by a rookie during their inaugural debut since Allen Iverson in 1996. He also added nine boards, five dimes and a pair of rejections in the game against the Pistons.
