Move over Elsa and Anna, a new princess is in town. Or at least she will be when Walt Disney World welcomes Princess Elena of Avalor to Disney’s Magic Kingdom this August.
Princess Elena is Disney’s first princess inspired by diverse Latin cultures. She will have her own animated series, “Elena of Avalor” premiering on the Disney Channel this summer.
Elena is a bold, caring, funny and clever16-year-old who is an ascendant to the throne in the fairytale kingdom of Avalor. The series will follow the story of Elena, who saves her kingdom from an evil sorceress and must then learn how to become the princess her kingdom needs. During her adventures, Elena learns about the importance of family and family traditions.
"A teenager in fairytale kingdom, Elena adds a new dimension to the Disney-princess world," Disney said in a blog announcement. "She is a bold, adventura princess, whose love for her kingdom of Avalor, and most importantly, her familia, fuels her magical adventures."
The animated series will appear in 33 languages in 163 countries.
Elena will also appear at Disneyland’s California Adventure. The date has not yet been released.
