Busch Gardens Tampa’s newest ride - Tigris opens April 19, and we’re so excited for the latest thrill coaster, we’ve come up with five reasons you should be excited too!
It’s Florida’s Tallest Launch Coaster
When it opens, Tigris will be Florida’s tallest launch coaster! With more than 1,800 feet of steel track and 150-foot height, Tigris offers plenty of twists, turning drops, forward and backward motions and super-fast speeds, which brings us to our next point.
Much like its namesake, Tigris will launch you up to scream-worthy speeds. After rolling back through the station you’ll launch in the reverse direction hitting speeds up to about 50 mph. You’ll come back through one more time for a final launch speed of 62 miles per hour!
You’ll learn About Tigers
Tigris takes its inspiration from the tiger. The name pays tribute to the world’s largest cat species, Panthera Tigris. As you wait to ride Tigris learn you’ll learn more about the dangers tigers face in the wild as well as Busch Gardens’ conservation efforts to save them in the ride’s queue. Additionally, Tigris is located in the Stanleyville section of the park next to the Jungle exhibit, which houses the park’s endangered Bengal tigers, so when you’re done with the ride pop on over and learn even more about tigers.
