Sometimes a ride on a roller coaster just isn’t enough. Sometimes you need to shoot something. Orlando theme parks are chalk full of family-friendly shooting rides that will have you shooting everything from evil crocodiles to aliens and even LEGO Egyptians! Your kids and the big-kid in you will have a blast trying to rack up the most points in our top shooting rides below.
1. Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin – The evil Emperor Zurg doesn’t stand a chance against a Junior Space Ranger like you in the popular Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom. In this shooting-gallery game, riders will be thrown into a space battle where you’ll join forces with Buzz Lightyear to stop Zurg from stealing helpless toy’s batteries to power a new weapon of destruction. In order to do so you will maneuver an XP-37 star cruiser through the Gamma Quadrant and fire lasers to defeat the evildoer as well as score the most points.
2. Toy Story Midway Mania! – The Toy Story shooting game fun continues at Disney’s Hollywood Studios with Toy Story Mania! This midway-style, 4D-shooting ride will zip riders through a virtual gallery of carnival games. Riders will step inside an early 20th-century-inspired Carnival Ride Tram where they will use their spring-action shooter to shoot stationary and moving targets. Guests can play 5 unique games in 3D, all of which will bring you in contact with your favorite Toy Story characters.
3. Lost Kingdom Adventure – Treasure-seekers will love braving this dark ride at LEGOLAND Florida. Riders will board an all-terrain roadster and brave the rugged Egyptian landscape, firing lasers at targets and mummy LEGO characters! When you do you will unearth treasures of a forgotten empire.
4. The Quest for CHI – Unlike the above-mentioned shooting games, The Quest for CHI at LEGOLAND Florida adds a watery twist to all of the shooting fun. This interactive water ride will take guests to the magical waters flowing from Mount Cavora in the world of Chima. As you float along you will use water cannons to help defeat Cragger the Crocodile King as he attempts to steal the mystical energy source, CHI.
5. Men In Black: Alien Attack – Aliens are running rampant on Earth and it is up to you to get rid of them! Men In Black: Alien Attack at Universal Orlando invites you to be an agent trainee and zap aliens in the streets of New York. A training vehicle will help you defeat the aliens, but for a fun twist Universal has added an extra feature that allows the aliens to shoot back causing your vehicle to spin out of control. If you zap enough aliens you might be promoted to a Men In Black agent so make sure you focus! Prior to boarding your vehicle you will get to see Men In Black’s top secret underground headquarters, break room, control room, agents’ locker area and weapons armory just like in the films.
