Universal Orlando announced some big news last week with a tweet hinting at a fourth theme park.
“This is kind of a big deal,” the company captioned with the words “something epic is coming” printed in bold white letters.
On Thursday, Universal unveiled a few details of the park, called Epic Universe, in a press conference and a series of tweets.
Here is everything we know so far about Universal Orlando’s fourth theme park:
It will be a game changer
Tom Williams, chairman and chief executive officer for Universal Parks & Resorts said in a statement, “It will build on everything we have done and become the most immersive and innovative theme park we have ever created. “It is an investment in our business, our industry, our team members and our community.”
Located on a 750-acre lot a few miles away for Universal’s CityWalk, Epic Universe will include an entertainment center, hotels, restaurants, gift shops and of course the park.
It’s Close to Universal Attractions
A map posted to Twitter shows that Epic Universe will be southeast of existing attractions like Universal Studios, Hard Rock Hotel and Islands of Adventure. It’s just a few miles away from the existing Universal resort, south of Sand Lake Road and east of Universal Boulevard.
Potential Harry Potter and Nintendo Attractions
As of right now there is no opening date and there are very little details about what will be inside the park. However, rumors are already swirling. Some say Epic Universe will contain a Harry Potter-themed land. It was reported that the company trademarked the name “Fantastic Worlds” in June, and the name may be a reference to the “Fantastic Beasts” franchise.
Another rumor hints that Epic Universe will contain a Nintendo-themed area. Universal Japan recently announced it will have a Super Nintendo World by 2020, and some fans say Universal Orlando will join them.
Still others say the theme parks will include DreamWorks animation-style attractions.
Stay tuned for more details.
