Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon recently announced something splashy is coming to the water park in 2017. Miss Fortune Falls will be a family-friendly raft ride that takes place on a journey through Captain Mary Oceaneer’s past. Legend has it that Captain Oceaneer enjoyed traveling the sea to collect unique artifacts. It was during one of her treasure adventures that a storm whisked her to Typhoon Lagoon where she became stranded. Guests will get to experience one of Captain Oceaneer’s journeys when they board treasure rafts before plunging into the same white water Captain Oceaneer used to explore. Scattered along the ride are some of the treasures gathered from her travels at sea. Miss Fortune Falls will be around 2- minutes long, making it one of the longest attractions at both Disney Water Parks. "We’re thrilled to add to our menu of great guest experiences at Disney’s Water Parks with Miss Fortune Falls," said Faron Kelley, vice president of ESPN Wide World of Sports, Disney’s water parks and miniature golf in a statement. "We believe this new attraction will quickly become a favorite with our guests, who are always looking for new ways to enjoy our parks," Kelley said. The Walt Disney World water park hasn’t seen any major additions since Crush ’N’ Gusher in 2005, and now with Miss Fortune Falls, the park has rounded out its offerings. Construction is set to begin this winter, when the park is closed for the season. Stay tuned of more details on the newest family raft ride.
